The ISAF World Sailor of the Year Awards 2000 were held on Tuesday 7 November 2000 in Edinburgh, Scotland, Great Britain. The presenter for the evening was Olympic Medallist and World Champion sailor Ian Walker (GBR).
Male Winner - Mateusz KUSZNIEREWICZ (POL)
 In recognition of his continued domination of the Finn Class. 1999 was Mateusz' fourth year as a nominee for the Awards, clear indication of the years he has been at the forefront of the Class. His 1999 achievements kept him leading the world rankings, including wins at the 1998 Finn Gold Cup and the majority of Grade 1 Events.
Female Winner - Margriet MATTHIJSSE (NED)
 In recognition of her successive wins in the Europe Class from August 1998, which have put her in pole position on the rankings. Wins in the Europe Class included the 1999 World Championship, 1999 European Championship, 1999 Sydney Harbour Olympic Test Event, and the majority of Grade 1 events.
