Robert SCHEIDT (BRA)This man has dominated the Laser Class over the years to such an extent that any sailor would be hard pushed to match across any other class. He won his fifth Laser World Championship title in 2001, an addition to his collection of Olympic Medals, a Gold in 1996 and Silver in 2000. A sailor who aims to continue his domination to achieve a further Gold in 2004. Having been placed in pole position on the world rankings for the preceding months, Robert is currently second.

Detail the personal highlights of your sailing career to date? Gold Medal at the 1996 Olympics and the 5 World Titles
Future sailing aspirations? Continue to sail Laser and try another Olympic Medal in Athens, get involved in big boat sailing like the Volvo Ocean Race and America's Cup
Briefly state what sailing means to you? Sailing is my sport and my profession. It is something I do with love and I really enjoy the excitement of racing
Who's had the greatest impact or inspiration in your sailing career and why? Peter Tanscheit (Brazil) was a past Laser World Champion and I learnt a lot with him and competing against him made me a better sailor. My coach Claudio Bieckark who supported me in the most important Regattas that I have won

Profession? Sailor/Graduate in Business School
What other sports do you participate in outside of sailing? Tennis, Swimming and Mountain Biking
Who do you consider to be the greatest sailor in the World and why? Paul Elvstrom for winning Olympic Gold 4 times
Briefly state what being nominated for the ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Award 2001 means to you? It is a great recognition of what I did in this sport in the past few years and I am really pleased about it
