The ISAF Sailing World Cup 2008-2009 incorporates seven events. Sailors can score points at each event to count towards their World Cup Series Standing.
ISAF Sailing World Cup Series
In each event, only the 20 boats ranked highest in the overall ranking of the regatta will be scored the following points:

The ISAF SWC Series score for a boat will be the sum of all the regattas scores, with no
discard.
Breaking Ties
If there is a Series Score tie between two or more skippers, each skipper’s SWC Regatta Scores (ie. R1, R2, R3 etc) shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference, the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best (i.e. highest) score.
If a tie remains between two or more skippers, they shall be ranked in order of their SWC Regatta Scores in the last regatta. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied skippers’ scores in the next-to-last regatta and so on.
ISAF Nations Sailing World Cup scoring system
There is just one SWC Nations Trophy (not one for each of the events). Only the Olympic events count towards the Nations Trophy.
The Nations SWC Scoring will use the sum of the Regatta Points Score for each Nation to give them an Overall Position in the Nations SWC Scoring
To calculate the Regatta Position for a Nation at a SWC Event:
Scores towards the SWC Nations Trophy standings are taken on a race-by-race basis from each country’s top two performers across the ten Olympic events. Top-20 race finishes translate into points: 20 points for a first, 19 for a second, all the way down to one point for a 20th place finish. After each race is completed across all ten events, a nation takes its two best scores and combines them to come up with their SWC Nations Trophy race score for that race.
A nation’s Regatta Position is determined by the sum of its SWC Nations Trophy race scores. The highest total is ranked in Regatta Position 1 and therefore gets a SWC Regatta Points Score of 20.
Ties are resolved using the same system as above. If there is a tie between two or more nations, each nation’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference, the tie shall be broken in favour of the nation(s) with the best (i.e. highest) score.

Shadow scoring systems
Shadow scoring systems shall be run by ISAF throughout the 2009 ISAF Sailing World Cup for evaluation purposes.
