On the eve of the Aquece Rio International Sailing Regatta 2014, the first Rio 2016 test event, a group of specialists have explained the measures being undertaken to ensure that water quality in Guanabara Bay is suitable for top-level competition, as well as outlining the longer-term initiatives that will improve the bay for the city's residents.

It was a day of snakes and ladders for most on a tricky penultimate race day at the RS Feva Worlds. The fleet was held ashore for an hour and a half whilst the gradient breeze flopped about and the seabreeze settled. It was a light 8kts that saw the Gold fleet set off.

At the close of play on day 1 Alpari World Match Racing Tour champion Taylor Canfield (ISV) tops the leader board unbeaten on 5-0, ahead of Phil Robertson (NZL) on 5-1 and local Polish legend Karol Jablonski on 4-1.

A new weather system produced a change of direction to the north west and 14 knot winds giving excellent sailing in big waves.

As the gold and silver fleets were beginning their first race of the day, a rain cell rolled in. The rain was not here for long but left strong winds gusting up to 22knts from the South-West.

Hyères, France and Weymouth, Great Britain have been named as the European venues for the 2015 ISAF Sailing World Cup series.

Two more races were completed in 9 to 10 knot winds on the second day of the Laser Radial Youth Championship in Dziwnów, Poland.

Racing got underway on day 3 in a 12-15 knot breeze from the north, perfect conditions to complete the final two races of the 6 race qualification series.
