The Moscow 1980 Olympic Sailing Competition was held in Tallinn and was the smallest Olympic Sailing event since 1956 due to the American boycott of the Games which led to several other non-attendees.

2012 RS:X Olympic Equipment will be sent shortly to Weymouth, Great Britain, following a successful ISAF inspection at the manufacturers.

On Saturday, October 12, the Olympic Flame arrived in Acapulco, Mexico where the sailing facilities had been transformed by new construction over the past two years into truly Olympic proportions.

At the Tokyo 1964 Olympic Games sailing was originally planned to take place at Yokohama, but after it was deemed unsuitable the events were held off the coast of Enoshima Island in Kanagawa Prefecture on the bay of Sagami.

The Olympic Games returned to Europe in 1960 with Rome, Italy the chosen venue. However the sailing event took place in the south in the Bay of Naples.

The Olympic Games ventured out of Europe and the U.S.A. for the first time in 1956, and went south to Melbourne, Australia.

The Olympic Games were going from strength to strength with 69 nations competing in Helsinki, Finland in 1952. And Olympic Sailing continued its global spread with 93 boats from 29 countries taking part.

The Olympic Games was held in London for the second time following the success of the 1908 Games.
