Sailing is a booming sport in China, nowhere more so than in Qingdao, the host city for the 2008 Olympic Sailing Competition.
China and Olympic Sailing

China has won two sailing medals at the Olympic Games, both of them silver and both in the women’s windsurfer event. There most recent success came in Athens at the 2004 Games, where Jian YIN led the competition for the majority of the regatta before just being edged out at the end, finishing with the silver medal.
In 2006, Lijia XU became the first ever Chinese sailor to win a World Championship gold medal in one of the Olympic sailing events, when she triumphed at the Laser Radial World Championship in Marina del Rey.
