Great Britain and the Netherlands will have to wait until Sunday to fight for the gold medal in the Women's Keelboat event at the 2008 Olympic Sailing Competition after today's Medal Race was postponed.
The Ynglings waited nearly four hours for the Finn Medal Race to be abandoned before the Yngling Medal Race was also abandoned due to a lack of wind at the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center.
The Yngling warning signal was scheduled for 14:00, but many of the Ynglings were already on the water where they were hoping to get clues from watching the Finn Medal Race.
The Yngling Medal Race has been rescheduled for 13:00 on Sunday.
Going into the Medal Race it’s a straight head-to-head battle for gold between the British and Dutch teams of Sarah AYTON, Sarah WEBB and Pippa WILSON (GBR) and Mandy MULDER, Annemieke BES and Merel WITTEVEEN (NED). Sofia BEKATOROU, Sofia PAPADOPOULOU and Virginia KRAVARIOTI (GRE) are 20 points off first position and only able to improve their positions if one of the two leaders picks up a letter score (for a disqualification or an early start). The battle for the bronze medal will be incredibly close with just seven points covering the boats in third to eight place overall.
The Yngling Medal Race is scheduled to get underway tomorrow at 14:00 local time.
