New Event in Sweden
Oresund Match Racing Trophy
Malmö
70,000 Euros will be up for grabs next weekend at a new open match racing event in Malmö, Sweden. The ISAF Grade 3 Oresund Match Racing Trophy will take place from 17-20 June and has attracted twelve top teams from the ISAF World Match Race Rankings.
The line up includes six skippers who are in the top twenty of the ISAF World Match Race Rankings and also figures names such as the winner of the Swedish Match Cup in 2003 Chris LAW (GBR) and Luc PILLOT (FRA). Matches will be sailed in the Italian constructed one-design the Blusail24 Sportboat with crews of four.
Six of the skippers have already qualified for the ISAF Grade 1 Swedish Match Cup which takes place in Marstrand, SWE from 5 - 11 July and the other six will be vying for the two slots available from the results of this event.
Over the course of three days, approximately 50 matches will be contested, for the Turning Torso Trophy and all will be covered live on TV. The organisers expect more than 50,000 spectators who will be able to watch the action right on the shore line at the new match racing arena.
