This was the third time MCEWEN has been to the worlds, and the first time he and his brother finished in first place, in the 10 race series, MCEWEN managed to sail his vessel to 5 firsts, 2 seconds, one third and one fourth place finish for 12 points after two drops, to capture the title just five points ahead of his nearest rival Alex TAYLOR of the Macclesfield Yacht Club in Cheshire, England who finished with a score of 17 points after two drops.
TAYLOR sailed the series with two firsts, two seconds, three thirds, one fifth, and one twelfth place finish to finish just 5 points back of MCEWEN for a total of 17 points.
TAYLOR, managed to take the second place finish just two points ahead of Canadians, Jason KOBRICK and Andrew MCEWEN who scored 18 points after the two drops, while fourth place was taken by the team from Great Britain, skippered by Nigel SKUDDER. Fifth place was taken by the team for Ireland Marty O'LEARY and Yvette DEACON. The team from the United States skippered by Hunter RATIFF finished no higher than 14th place while Pablo Rabago DORBECKER of Mexico crossed the line in 15 place and Italian Raffaella CAGLIANO managed a 19th place with 146.00 points.
The fleet saw 56 boats compete for the title from seven countries, Canada had 38 sailors, Great Britain 3, Ireland 1, Germany 1, Italy 1, Mexico 1, and the United States 9.
