International Moth sailor, Rohan VEAL (AUS) has been nominated for the Victorian Institute of Sport's Annual Sports Awards to be held next Monday at the Crown Palladium.
VEAL, who is a member of Black Rock Yacht Club in Melbourne, won the 2005 Moth World Championship at his home club in January with a perfect score, sailing one of the sometimes controversial 'hydro foiling' Moths.
VEAL's name is closely linked with hydrofoils, as he has refined suitable sailing techniques to take advantage of the new technology.
VEAL has been nominated for his 2004 exploits only, in the 'Spirit Award' category, because he: 'became the Australian, European Open, British Open and Australian Open Champion sailing in the Moth class.'
VEAL is the only sailor nominated across for an award.
