Gulf of Aden, Indian Ocean
Military Authorities have issued further warnings of piracy attacks in the Gulf of Aden and the Northern Indian Ocean region.
Danger of piracy in the Gulf of Aden and surrounding waters remains very high. The international naval authorities have issued an invitation through ISAF (the International Sailing Federation) to yachtsmen with recent experience of the area or who are considering passage, to a meeting on Tuesday 19 October 2010 at 1400 at the Northwood, London HQ of MSCHOA (Maritime Security Centre, Horn of Africa).
A limited number of places are available to yachting journalists. ISAF guidelines
www.sailing.org/piracy and those of the UKFCO continue to strongly advise yachts to avoid the area.
