Yesterday saw the Hobie European Champion 2003 claimed by Gavin COLBY and Emilie SIMONET (AUS).
After 11 races on the Neusiedler lake in Austria it was the Australians that go home with the most wanted title in the Hobie World of sailing.
Yesterday's 3 races where tough, with lots of wind shifts and challenging races.
However, with a bullet in each of yesterday's three race, Gavin and Simone were untouchable and claimed the European Championship title with a clear 12 point margin over the chasing George BACKES and Simone MONREAL (GER). In fact Gavin and Simone didn't place a result out of the top 10, with their lowest finishing position being a seventh.
George and Simone fought as much as they could, but concluded a scoreline yesterday of 12, 5, 4 and had to accept a second place.
However, they could claim the title of best European team, with behind them five French teams, three Germans and one Italian in the top 10.
In third place overall was the French team of Christophe RENAUD DE MALLET and Alban ROSSOLLIN.
