Falmouth, Great Britain

Sailing clothing company, Henri-Lloyd is to sponsor Falmouth Week, which takes place from 6-13 August 2005. The event, which now encompasses Falmouth Dinghy Week and Falmouth Classics, will be known as Henri-Lloyd Falmouth Week.
Organized by The Port of Falmouth Sailing Association, the Falmouth regatta has grown from its earliest origins in the 1820s and is now a major event held over 8 days and offers all aspects of racing.

Helford River Sailing Club runs Sunday's racing, followed by a pig roast on the shores of the Helford River.

The Bay Championships, Bay Regatta and Falmouth Dinghy Week start on Monday 8 August, with the racing and evening barbecue run by the Mylor Yacht Club.

Restronguet Sailing Club, nationally recognized as one of the leading clubs for dinghy racing, hosts Tuesday's racing. This year a fleet of 100 plus dinghies are expected to take part.

Flushing Sailing Club run Wednesday's event and, on Thursday, St. Mawes Sailing Club's after-sailing social event causes the whole town to be closed off to traffic, with tables, music and dancing in the streets and a giant screen to show the video of the day's racing.

The Royal Cornwall Yacht Club runs Friday's racing, followed by supper al fresco and a spectacular firework display over the harbour.

Henri-Lloyd Falmouth Week winds up on Saturday 13 August with the traditional 'Champagne Race', with 72 bottles of bubbly to be won. The Grand Prizegiving for the regatta series takes place at the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club.
