Racing Finally Gets Underway

J/22 World Championship
Porto San Rocco

After three days no races for too much, Bora blowing up to 40kn, the first day of J22 World Championship ended with two races yesterday in strong breezes.
The venue is Porto San Rocco and the event is organized by the Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano with the technical and logistic support of the Marina.

After two races the general standings show Dutch Den ENGELSMAN at the top followed by Kim CHRISTENSEN of Denmark and Joost STELTENPOOL of the Netherlands.

Fourth is Italian sailor Lorenzo BRESSANI, followed closely by local hero Vasco VASCOTTO from Trieste in fifth place. Sixth is fellow Italian Andrea Casale.

The strong breeze made for close,and exciting racing on the first day and caused some wipe out problems for the 58 international crews in Italy. Three races are due to be held today and the wind is currently at a challenging 22 knots.
