Representatives from ISAF will be amongst the leaders of the 100 International Sporting Federations gathering in the Olympic city of Berlin this weekend.
ISAF President Goran PETERSSON (SWE), previous ISAF President, Paul HENDERSON (CAN) and ISAF Secretary General, Arve SUNDHEIM (NOR) are attending along with other Sport Federation Members, affiliated to the General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF), who are gathering from 16-20 April for the third edition of the SportAccord Convention. In total about 1,400 people are expected to attend.

The annual Convention is also the first rendezvous for all those involved in international sport after the celebration of the Athens Games. The IOC Executive Board will also be meeting in parallel to SportAccord during the final three days of the convention, just three months before the 117th IOC Session in Singapore, where the fate of the 2012 Olympic Games will be decided.

The IOC President, who sailed in three Olympics from 1968-1976, Jacques ROGGE (BEL), will take part in the SportAccord opening ceremony, during which he will recall the importance of such a rendezvous, and thus of the unity within the world sports family.

The five Candidate Cities - Paris, New York, Moscow, London and Madrid - for the Games of the XXX Olympiad in 2012, will be in Berlin to give a 10 minute presentation to the General Assembly of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF).

In addition to meetings and assemblies of the GAISF, ASOIF and the Association of the International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF) - at the origin of this Convention - SportAccord is a real platform to meet and exchange for sports leaders and others involved, such as sponsors, architects, lawyers, broadcasters, event organizers, technology experts and other specialists.
