New Zealand Women's Match Racing Championship 2005
Auckland, New Zealand

There will be ten teams competing at this year's ISAF Grade 3 Matis Women's Match Racing Championship at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (RNZYS) in Auckland during Anzac weekend, the 22-25 April.
The 2004 winner and number 19 in the ISAF World Match Race Rankings, Nicky SOUTER (AUS) and team from the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club are back to defend their title. Second to SOUTER last year and challenging her again will be New Zealander, Jan DAWSON, representing the host club. SOUTER also defeated DAWSOIN in the final of the ISAF Grade 3 Australian Women's Match Racing Championships held in September last year at the Royal Perth Yacht Club, but the Kiwi and her crew are keen to change that and will be hoping that the advantage of home waters will help them avenge those defeats.

At two above SOUTER in the ISAF World Match Race Rankings, Katie SPITHILL (AUS), will provide more stiff competition for the New Zealanders

Greta HOLLIES (NZL) and her young team, all under 21 years of age, will be representing the RNZYS LION FOUNDATION Youth Training Programme. HOLLIES will showcase the best experience in the Elliott 6m Youth Training boats having steered boat 6, Western Mailing throughout the year.

Jessica EASTWELL (AUS), representing the Royal Perth Yacht Club, will be competing for the first time in New Zealand after coming third in the Australian Women's Match Racing Championships.

With such a competitive line-up of female match racing talent and it looks set to be exciting viewing from the RNZYS Members Bar or the Westhaven car park Rock wall during Anzac Weekend.
