US SAILING has determined its 2003 adult championships calendar. The 11 events, which begin in April and continue through to November, will be hosted by nine different yacht clubs across the country.
The US SAILING adult championships are made possible through the dedicated support of its sponsors, Rolex Watch U.S.A. and Vanguard Sailboats. Rolex Watch U.S.A., which has supported sailing excellence for over four decades, is returning for its seventh year as sponsor of all US SAILING adult championships. The U.S. Singlehanded Championship and the U.S. Team Racing Championship are also sponsored by Vanguard Sailboats as part of that company's continued dedication to improve the quality of sailing.
Most of the championships offer Rolex clinics, designed to give sailors an opportunity to improve their racing experience through on-the-water or on-shore lessons from local or class experts. The clinics are completely supported by Rolex as part of the company's dedication to the sport of sailing and racing.
"Undoubtedly, the clinics are a popular and well-attended feature of the championships,"
said Brad Dellenbaugh, chair of US SAILING's Championship Committee. "Over the past two years we've seen sailors who are new to a particular championship, as well as many veterans. The camaraderie evident at the regattas really peaks during the clinics."
Since Rolex Watch U.S.A. first presented timepieces to America's Cup defenders in 1958, the company has consistently endeavoured to recognize and encourage excellence in every important arena of competitive sailing, including Olympic Games preparation, US SAILING championships, disabled sailing, and offshore, one-design and women's events.
