Over 40 boats took part in the first of two races in program for this two day event. The sailors enjoyed an eventful race in a beautiful city overlooking the famous Bosphorus, a strait which connects the black sea to the marmara sea.
A picturesque landscape between ottoman palaces and bridges framed the yachts tacking upwind along the narrow passage. To make things more challenging the boats tacked very close to the shore to avoid the strong currents coming from the north.
The first mark was placed at about 6.5 miles upwind from the starting line and the sailors raced in 8 knots of wind coming from the north-east.
First to cross the finish line in the IRC-Race class is Idefix 2, followed by Orient Express 3 and XL.
For the IRC Race and Cruising class the winner is Narin, followed by Hale and trailed by Goblin.
The first three to finish in the last class, the IRC Cruising class are Blue Dragon, followed by Equinox and Maya.
