Prince of Wales Cup
Hayling Island

Following his success at the Skiff International Championship in Carnac last week, young British Sailor Rob GREENHALGH, with Dan JOHNSON have added the coveted Prince of Wales Cup to their recent string of successes.
It is the second time Rob has won the trophy, which this year was held yesterday as part of the International 14 European Championships on Hayling Island. 62 boats made the trip out for the marathon event in 14 sailing, a long and arduous race.

Racing started just after 13:00 local time and with defending POW champions, Paul VINE and Dave "Boznia" DOBREJVIC (GBR) scoring an immediate OCS, the race really was on.

As the race developed, Greenhalgh, who rounded the first top mark in fifth place, gradually picked off the boats in front of him and up the second beat, overtook the leaders, James FAWCETT and Bruce GRANT (GBR). They then sailed a conservative race despite some "POW last lap nerves" to take the cup he last won in 2002 by an enormous margin.
