Millbourn found her way to the final by dispatching Marie BJORLING, ranked first in the ISAF Women's Match Race rankings, by three races to won, and faced Lotte Meldgaard PEDERSEN in the final.

The final was a close fought best of five race match and when the scores were tied at 2-2, a final race was necessary. Millbourn eventually won the final race by the smallest of margins and with it took the World Championship title
