Clipper 2002/03 Round the World Race
Cape Town

Third place on Race 12 of the Clipper 2002 Round the World Series went to Rory GILLARD and his crew aboard London Clipper, who crossed the finish line in Cape Town at 17:44 local time (15:44 GMT) yesterday, Monday 24 June 2003.
Ross DANIEL took New York across the line in fourth place, after an agonising struggle to the finish line for both teams.

Fifth place went to Adam KYFFIN on Liverpool, whilst Justin TAYLOR'S Hong Kong crew took sixth.

The Cape Town and Glasgow yachts retired from Race 12, part of the fifth crew leg of Clipper 2002, due to adverse weather conditions. Serious wind holes resulted in these crews slipping further behind and their respective skippers, Rupert PARKHOUSE and Roger STEVEN-JENNINGS, both reluctantly took the difficult but correct decision to retire.

For the yachts now arriving dockside at the Royal Cape Yacht Club basin, a truly rapturous welcome is due; especially as the prize giving celebrations, hosted by the City of Cape Town, have just got underway!
