Match Race Germany Qualifier 2005
Langenargen, Germany

Sten MOHR (DEN) defeated Ian AINSLIE (RSA) of the South African Shosholoza America´s Cup Challenger in the final of the ISAF Grade 3 Match Race Germany Qualifier to earn his place in next month's ISAF Grade 1 Event.
After victory yesterday MOHR now has until 11 May to prepare to go up against the top two sailors in the ISAF World Sailing Rankings, Ed BAIRD (USA) and Peter GILMOUR (AUS), in the ISAF Grade 1 Match Race Germany raced here in Langenargen, Germany. MOHR overcame AINSLIE 2-0 in the final on Lake Constance, putting his record for the event to nine races sailed with just a single loss.

In the third place match, Jan EIKE ANDRESEN (GER) of Germany´s Fresh 17 America´s Cup Challenger beat and local hero Tino ELLEGAST (GER) 2-0.

Sunday was difficult again in terms of conditions, but all the sailors were more than happy with the performance of the race management, with the international umpire team, under chief umpire Rüdiger SCHUCHARDT, only having to give away a few penalties.

The Match Race Germany Qualifier, taking place for the second time, again presented itself as a very well organised event that provides a great opportunity for the up and coming German match racers, as well as America´s Cup teams and very experienced match racers wanting to grab the spot in the ISAF Grade 1 Match Race Germany.

The price giving was conducted in the Ultramarin restaurant in front of 1,500 boats .
