ISAF is hosting an International Judges Conference over the weekend of 21 - 23 March 2003, which will focus on the education of ISAF International Judges with regard to RRS 42.
The goal is to achieve a consistent and accurate approach to the policing of the rule worldwide.
The programme will include:
· Review of RRS 42 and modifications
· Problem areas and interpretations from the Racing Rules Committee
· Athlete perspective on kinetics judging
· Coach perspective on kinetics judging
· Equipment necessary for on the water judging
· Coverage of the course area
· Interaction between judges and competitors
· Press and other observers at hearings
· Discretionary penalties
- including redress for OCS
Headed up by John Doerr (GBR, IJ, ISAF Race Officials Committee), the following group of experienced International Judges has been appointed to present the programme at the Conference:

Pertti Lipas (FIN) - IJ, ISAF Racing Rules Committee Working Party
Bernard Bonneau (FRA) - IJ, ISAF Racing Rules Committee Working Party

Each Member National Authority is invited to send one delegate, who should ideally be an International Judge with experience of dealing with RRS 42. All International Judges that attend the Conference will be expected to organise a seminar in their respective Member National Authorities, in order to disseminate the information to as many people as possible.
The Conference will be held in Southampton, Great Britain. Some Member National Authorities will be able to apply for an ISAF travel grant to assist with the cost of travelling to the Conference. To find out which MNAs are eligible to apply the grant, please view the website linked below.
