2003 ISAF World Championships

ISAF Staff and Executive Committee recently visited the Venues for the World Championships, Bay of Cádiz, Spain, and received more information on accommodation available for the Sailors.
The main Venue (Puerto Sherry) is near the town of El Puerto de Santa Maria. The classes racing from this venue are: Mistral, Finn, Yngling, Europe, 49er, Tornado and Star. This town would also be a good base for the Laser sailors although they would have to travel about 15 KM to the El Cano Sailing Centre at the beginning of the city of Cadiz.

The tourist office of Puerto Santa Maria claims that there are 50,000 apartments for rent, so there should be sufficient choice. To rent private apartments you should contact one of the Estate Agents listed on their website. Hotels and other types of accommodation are listed on both the official event website as the Tourist Office Website.

For Rota (venue for the 470 class) we found the following useful information on the website of the Tourist Office of Rota

ISAF President Paul Henderson personally checked the facilities and commented: 'I checked on rental accommodation and there are many choices. I was shown a 3 bedroom Condo within 5 minutes from the marina with all amenities and only 3 years old for 600 EUR a week and a private house on the sea for 800 EUR.'

For El Cano (venue for the Laser) we have no additional information apart from the official website and a link to the
Cadiz Tourist Office
. This Website is unfortunately still only available in English, although it is promised that other languages will follow soon.
