ATKINSON and RENARD went into the final race with virtually nothing to separate them, after wins in races six and seven for RENARD and five and eight for ATKINSON. This time it was the Brit who triumphed taking the bullet and second place overall. A long way back in fourth was France's Erwann JAUFFROY with Britain's Olympic bronze medallist on the Mistral, Nick DEMPSEY in fifth.
In the women's fleet JOHNSTON put in a fantastic performance, taking four bullets on her way to a five point victory over ISAF Women's World Sailing Rankings' number one and Olympic Champion on the Mistral, MERRET. MERRET though took the French Championship title to add to her Olympic Crown. Bryony SHAW completed an excellent event for the British with third place ahead of France's Sarah HERBERT.
