great sailing conditions found in Banderas Bay, one of the largest bays on the West Coast of Mexico, and is attended mainly by cruising yachts.
This year the first two of the three days had near perfect wind conditions for competitive racing between the 42 yachts registered for the event with winds of 15-20 knots. The third day was sailed in lighter airs. There were seven fleets, all evenly divided by PHRF Southern California handicap ratings starting with the multi-hulls and in fleet seven, the smaller and slower yachts.
In fleet one Blair GRINOLS won on Capricorn Cat, Kevin and Sandy REATH skippered Something Wicked to victory in fleet two whilst Jack MUIR's Tambourine took the honours in fleet three.
This annual event is sponsored by Regatas y Deportes Maritimos-Bahia De Banderas A.C and the Vallarta Yacht Club A.C. Both of which are non-profit organizations and members of the Mexican Sailing Federation.
Next year's Banderas Bay Regatta is scheduled to take place from 29 March-1 April.
