As part of the new RYA Tick Mark scheme RYA Technical have introduced the use of the new mark as an indication of boat Stability alone or for Stability and Construction.
When applied it is a guarantee that the boat model has been successfully assessed by the RYA against international safety standards.

Recent harmonisation of new ISO international stability standards allows most builders of small craft to self certify the stability of their boats, without the need for the involvement of any external Notified Body. However many boat builders are choosing to use the new voluntary assessment services of the RYA for this task.

Ken Kershaw RYA Technical Manager commented "The RYA has vast experience and an excellent international reputation for the testing of small craft. Only boat models meeting the RYA's strict standards are allowed to use the new Tick Mark. We are pleased that boat manufacturers are opting to use the RYA to assess their boats even though there are no regulations that specify that they have to."
