Event Kicks Off US SAILING Series

U.S. Multihull Championship 2005
Portsmouth, R.I. USA

The 13-17 April will see the inaugural event of the 18 strong 2005 season US SAILING's National Championships Series. Hosted by Alamitos Bay Yacht Club in Long Beach, California, from 13-17 April, the U.S. Multihull Championship is one of seven National Championships scheduled to be held on the West Coast this year.
Twenty teams from across the country have qualified to compete in the event, which will be raced in Hobie Tigers supplied by Hobie Cat Company. The list of competitors includes defending champion Mike MONTAGUE sailing with Mike LUEBKEMANN; Hobie 16 North American Champions Armando NORIEGA and Javier CABILDO (MEX); Nacra 20 North American Champions Nigel PITT and Mike KRANTZ; and 2004 U.S. Youth Multihull Champions TJ and Jerry TULLO.

This will be a good practice event for the young TULLO brothers who will represent the USA at the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship in Korea this summer.

The winner of the event will receive US SAILING's Hobie Alter Cup, a perpetual trophy named after Hobie ALTER, Sr. for his extraordinary promotion of one-design multihull sailing and racing programmes.
