The local winds worked liked a clock yesterday enabling the race committee to catch up on all but one race for all fleets.
The total fleet can now be split into gold, silver, bronze and emerald for four "finals" races over the next two days. A 14 knot southerly wind gave a one good race for all fleets starting at 8.30 am (local time) and an extra race for two fleets. The southerly started to fade around 11 am and vanished completely soon after causing the red fleet race to be abandoned. Within 30 minutes the wind had switched to a northerly and an hour later the course had been re set for the new wind, no easy feat in 300 metres deep water!
The red fleet were re started in 12 knots of wind that held for six more fleet races.
Tonko KUZMANIC (CRO) held on to his overall with two more first places and a tenth which he can now discard. Likewise Keir CLARKE from Great Britain scored two bullets in his races to keep second overall but also scored an OCS for a premature start. This may prove costly in the final races as Kuzmanic might still want to use his tenth place. Following these two places have changed significantly following the introduction of the discard.
Although still hot the humidity levels have dropped slightly and the locals are more confident the Ora wind once again establishing itself early on Friday.
Top Ten Overall results after 7 races with one discard.
