Raceboard Masters European Championship

Four races have now been completed at the Raceboard Masters European Championship currently underway in Puck, Poland. 24 sailors from eight nations are competing for the title and it is a newcomer to the event, Paco WIRZ who is showing the fleet the way h
Paco WIRZ (ITA), racing in his first Raceboard Masters Europeans, showed the rest of the fleet a clean pair of heels on the first day! Racing in near perfect conditions in Puck, he won both races without seeming to be in any hurry! Bright sunshine and 15 knots of breeze proved a little bit more challenging for Paul LEONE (GBR) who finished second and third. Commenting after coming ashore he said that he was having a few problems with his new sail which was proving more powerful than he had expected!

On day two Paco scored another two bullets in a building breeze The first race of the day got under way just before 1130hrs (local time) in 8 to 10 knots of wind and bright sunshine. Paco WIRZ (ITA), barring some unforeseen natural disaster will definitely be standing on the top step of the podium next Saturday night. Perhaps its time for a few more Olympians like Mike GEBHARDT and Bruce KENDALL to come and join us if only to give Paco a good race !

Back in the pack where the mere mortals can be found, Paul LEONE (GBR) put in a first and a 13 yesterday. Having taken his first discard, he retains second place overall. Jean ASIA (FRA) had a good day scoring a second and a fifth to take third overall after discarding his first race ninth place. Jean is also the first Grand Master, well ahead of his countryman Pierre BECK (FRA).
