GP14 World Championship
Abersoch

Seven races have been sailed and things are all to play for going into the final part of the regatta in Abersoch, GBR. Race 7 started in a Force 4 to 5 with a now tiring fleet looking forward to the finish and getting back ashore.
Jim HUNT and Graham NELSON from South Staffs SC started after about a minute and took the first header to tack and just cross Matthew FLINT and Phil COX from Northampton SC. Jim and Graham continued to play the shifts and favoured the left hand side of the beat.

They rounded well clear and sailed a faultless race to win easily. Second around the windward mark was Chris JONES and Rob TEMPLE from West Lancs SC followed in third by Richard ESTAUGH and Simon POTTS from Chase SC. Matthew and Phil rounded in fourth closely followed by Neil MARSDEN and Derek HILL from Blackpool & Fleetwood SC. Ichard and Simon overtook Chris and Rob to finish second in the race, whilst the other main championship contender Neil and Derek moved up into third. Matthew and Phil held fourth whilst Carl JEFFS and Jim TOOTHILL came through to record a fifth place finish.

The Championship is still wide open with two races left to sail, however Neil and Derek are slight favourites over Richard and Simon with the possibility of the boats in positions third through to sixth being able to win the World Championship title.
