New Mapping Feature For RYA Affiliated Clubs and Training Centres

The RYA website has launched a new, much improved intelligent mapping system, showing the locations and facilities of all marinas within their marina guide, along with RYA affiliated clubs and Training Centres.
The new mapping system, which will require downloading a small Java program to use, has a zoom facility capable of showing detail right down to minor roads. The RYA is not currently displaying pilotage or chart information, as this could lead some users to attempt to use the system for navigation at sea, for which the existing system would not be suitable.

Marinas can be searched with detailed custom parameters so, for instance, the map can show, at the touch of a button all the marinas within a certain distance of a town that have a laundrette, pump out facility and a sailmaker.
Alternatively, you may wish to find out where you can attend an RYA Day Skipper night school course within 10 miles of your home postcode. Once again, it's all now at the touch of a button.

The maps contain a useful set of tools to the left, which allow the user to centre the map on any chosen facility or measure distances between two points with a simple drag of the mouse.

In 2004, the RYA intends to augment the information currently displayed with the locations of RYA ICC test centres, T-15 windsurfing clubs and anything RYA members wish (within reason) to be listed on a geographical basis.
