JJ Giltnan 18 Foot Skiff Trophy

Defending JJ Giltinan Champion Howie Hamlin and his crew managed to hold off the persistent Rob Greenhalgh and crew on RMW Marine to take the gun by 15 seconds in today's Fisher and Paykel Day of racing.
The fleet sailed a NE course with a breeze topping 15 knots that saw the entire fleet home on the beach before the forecasted southerly hit.

Tight racing across the fleet saw Tony Hannan and crew Cameron McDonald and Greg Windust on Total Recall have their second third placing in two days finish only 56 seconds behind RMW Marine.

Trevor Barnabas and crew Trent Barnabas and Matt Felton on Omega Smeg placed sixth after and broken trapeze wire prior to the start and then having to do a penalty turn after a close call at the mark rounding.

RMW Marine leads the overall point score with 19 points after 4 heats with no wins at this stage. Peter Morrison skipper of Avaya, who was taken to hospital yesterday after a injury during racing is ok and plans to race in Heat 5, and Dave Gibson crew on Aristocrat, is now the proud father of a son as of last night.
