Smallest and Oldest Returns to Top of Handicap Rankings

Cape to Rio Race 2003

Cape Town (RSA) to Rio (BRA)

The smallest boat in the fleet and the oldest participant in the SAP Cape to Rio 2003, Gawie Fagan, are showing their mettle and have clawed their way back into the top spot on the handicap rankings.

Fagan and his crew of three managed to cover 159 miles during the 24-hour reporting period.

Two Gauteng crews on Baleka and InvestecInvestec is skippered by Sean Cumming and his crew consists of five medical specialists, including two professors, from Gauteng.

The small Miura Julie III has moved up into fourth spot with the German maxi Morning Glory in fifth position.

Swedish trimaran Nicator managed her best distance of the race by covering 391 miles at an average of 16.3 knots as she passed the island of Trinidade.
