The Australian Yachting Federation (AYF) are pleased to announce the following athletes have been invited to join the National Paralympic Squad for 2003.

  • Peter Thompson (ACT)
  • Michael McLean (VIC)

  • Jeffrey Milligan (WA)
  • Colin Harrison (WA)
  • Jamie Dunross (WA)
  • Stephen Churm (NSW)
  • Zoltan Pegan (NSW)
  • Grahme Rayner (NSW)

The National Paralympic squad is determined using the AYF Funding Guidelines Olympic and Paralympic classes.

The squad has presented many fine performances at international events. Jeffery Milligan and Colin Harrison, along with Sydney 2000 Paralympic gold medallist Noel Robbins, finished 5th at the 2002 IFDS World Championship in the Sonar class. They were joined by new squad members Stephen Churm and Zoltan Pegan who finished a credible eleventh.

Also at the 2002 IFDS World Championship Peter Thompson and Michael McLean finished 5 and 8 respectively in the 2.4mR class. The squad will look to improve their performance at the 2003 IFDS World Championship in September.

Sydney 2000 gold medallist Jamie Dunross returns to the squad following the tragic death of Noel Robins, while Grahme Rayner joins the squad for the first time.

The National Paralympic squad will head to the Australian Institute of Sport from 1-3 June, for a combined camp with the National Olympic Squad. Here they will participate in media interviews, strength and conditioning sessions, an ASDA seminar, coaching lectures, psychology sessions and rules discussion.
