Star European Spring Championship

The Spartacus Sailing Club in Balatonfoldvar is proud to host this years European Spring Championship of the Star Class that once again is a showdown in fleet size and number of participants from 25 Nations.
Yesterday's racing reminded competitors in many ways of Miami: Hot on the downwind legs and green water very much like in the Caribbean Sea.

The fleet actually sailed two races but only one counted. Only seconds before the first boats finished the first race the race Committee abandoned the race as on the final leg the wind had shifted 6o degrees to the right and the stars were reaching into the finish.

The wind from the east was very shifty for the duration of the day but finally the resailed first race in the afternoon was a pretty fair one , light to medium conditions with some gusts coming out of the south shore. The Irish team of Mansfield Collins took most advantage from these gusts on their final leg and moved up from fourth position into winning the first race.

Close behind followed the Italiens Semeraro/Micheli and Hagen / Wolfram from Germany sailing their new Folli boat into third position.

There is a high pressure and not much chance for more wind the next days. Hopefully more results tomorrow.
