The International Association for Disabled Sailing (IFDS) is pleased to announce the equipment and venue for the evaluation event for the one-person and three-person keelboat events at the 2012 and 2016 Paralympic Sailing Competition
The IFDS Equipment Evaluation for the One-Person Keelboat and Three-Person Keelboat events will take place in Hyeres, France from 26-28 April, following on from the ISAF Grade 1 Semaine Olympique Française. IFDS is grateful to the national governing body for sailing in France, the Fédération Française de Voile (FFV), who have partnered with IFDS to organize the Evaluation Event.
Four one-person and three three-person keelboats, all listed below, will be put through their paces by the IFDS Equipment Evaluation Committee.
High Performance of the Access Liberty
Development of the SKUD18
The equipment principles for each event are:
One-Person Keelboat - To provide strategic and technically challenging advanced racing.
Three-Person Keelboat - To provide a relatively physical, high-performance boat accessible to a wide range of functionalities.
On water testing will take place from 26-27 April, followed by meetings between IFDS and each manufacturer on 28 April.
In order to test the boats as fully as practicable in the time available, IFDS has invited RNAs to nominate some good national level teams of male and female disabled sailors from whom IFDS can select up to about 12 sailors in total to test the boats over 26-27 April. Full information has been sent to IFDS RNAs. If you would like further information on nominating disabled sailors to the Evaluation Event contact email@example.com
