BOYSEN-MOELLER Brothers Reclaim Top Spot

Practical Flying Dutchman World Championship 2005

Lake Balaton, Balatonföldvár, Hungary

Ideal weather conditions on Lake Balaton in Balatonföldvár, Hungary saw three more races at the Practical Flying Dutchman World Championship and Jörgen and Jacob BOYSEN-MOELLER (DEN) take over the lead. A bullet in the final race capped a great day for the Danes as former leaders and defending champions Szabolcs MAJTHÉNYI and András DOMOKOS (HUN) struggled.

Sunshine and a force four beaufort wind lead to some terrific racing in Hungary with the Australian team of Norman RYDGE and Richard SCARR coming to the fore. They took a clear victory in the opening race and followed it with a third and fifth place to move up to second overall.

The BOYSEN-MOELLER brothers began with a third, whilst their principle rivals, MAJTHÉNYI and DOMOKOS, slipped to ninth in the opening race, meaning the Danes took over the lead of the Championship. They consolidated their top spot with a sixth in the following race, as the Hungarians again struggled, eventually finishing 13th. MAJTHÉNYI and DOMOKOS found their form again in the final race, challenging the BOYSEN-MOELLERs the whole way, but it was the Dane's day and they won out to move sixth points clear at the top.
