The competitors coming from Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Great Britain and the USA will sail eleven races on the sail area in front of Marciana Marina, with six races needed to constitute a Championship series.
The challenge World Cup Trophy will be awarded to the winner of the World Championship, whilst the Queen Silvia Cup will be awarded to the first disabled sailor.
Danny MCCOY (CAN), disabled sailor and President of the International 2.4 Metre Class Association will compete in the event and the fleet includes many other top sailors such as Finland's Marko DAHLBERG, twice a World Champion in previous years.
