Connect To Sailing

The 6th annual Sailing and Watersports event in France and French speaking Belgium enjoyed another succesful year in 2005 despite bad weather conditions.
Continuing the highlighting of initiatives around the world which illustrate the ethos behind Connect To Sailing, the Fête du Nautisme is an innovative annual two day event designed to engage as many people as possible in a water sports activity.

Seven major events, 17 regional meetings, 500 sites, 14,000 volunteers, 80 departments and 150,000 participants actively taking part in the activities available - all add up to some impressive numbers and go to show just what can be achieved over the course of one weekend!

The Fête du Nautisme takes place annually all over France and French Speaking Belgium, it is designed to allow everyone to try a variety of water related sporting or cultural activities. The philosophy behind the 14,000 volunteers is 'sharing the passion' , and that is exactly what they did, they shared their passion and experience with over 400,000 visitors to the event overall, over the course of the two day event.

The organisers wanted the 2005 event to stress more than ever the importance of lasting development, that water activities must be practised in harmony with the environment as well as highlighting the many and varied activites that fall under the heading of 'Water Sports'. Visitors to the event had the opportunity to have at go at motorboating, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, rowing, surfing, water-skiing and diving to name a few examples.

The Fête du Nautisme 2006 is due to take place on the weekend of 13-14 May, all over France and French Speaking Belgium.
