The event is being organized by the Federación Andaluza de Vela with the support of the Real Federación Española de Vela and Andalusia's Department of Tourism, Commerce and Sport. The inaugural RS:X Class Meeting is set to take place from 1800-2000 on Friday 30 September. Here windsurfers will have an opportunity right from it's creation to contribute towards the formation of the RS:X Class. The Class Meeting is then followed by a Neil Pryde welcome dinner to celebrate the launch of the board.
On Saturday the first of a maximum of three races gets underway at 1300. The same schedule will be followed on Sunday with a Neil Pryde Party and the prizegiving following on from the final races.
Competitors wishing to stay in Cadiz to participate in the separate Raceboard World Championship then have a rest day before racing begins on 4 October. Competitors can use the RS:X at the Raceboard Worlds as well as the Mistral IMCO One Design or any other board from the ISAF Approved Series Production Raceboard List.
The RS:X will be part of the ISAF Graded event tour and will be included in the ISAF World Sailing Rankings from the 1 January 2006.
To date, for ISAF events it has been confirmed that the RS:X will be the equipment used at the 2006 ISAF World Sailing Games on Lake Neusiedl, Austria and the 2007 ISAF Sailing World Championships in Cascais, Portugal. The RS:X will make its Olympic debut at the 2008 Olympic Sailing Competiton in Qingdao, China.
