South American Optimist Championship

Maria Pia Benavides (PER) could not hold on to her lead in the closing stages of the IODA South Americans but nevertheless achieved the highest position ever for a South American girl in the 28 years of this event.
Juliana Senfft (BRA) in South American Championship closed bronze equalled the previous record.

Overall winner in the Open class was Henrique Haddad (BRA), second in the Open class Pierluigi Alessio (ITA).

Peru won the Team Racing competition.
