Peter de Savary (GBR) Announces Americas Cup Plans

Peter de Savary has revealed plans for another British challenge for the Americas Cup for 2006. Kit Hobday spoke at a press conference yesterday saying that de Savary had said "yes, conditionally I'll go for it"

The Knightsbridge based Royal Thames Yacht Club has been approached to be a conduit for the challenge, and the probable name of the challenge will be 'Brittania', given that a submission had been make to Buckingham Palace and no objection had been made. The plan will also only go ahead if the Americas Cup is staged in Europe, or the eastern coast of the United States. This, of course, is dependant upon who wins this time around.
