Windsurfing World Championship

Half of the competitors were finally called on the water to race yesterday at the Windsurfing World Championships at Largs.

However the light winds proved just too fitful and the only race for the Aloha class which was started was quickly called off as the breeze died completely. The Formula and Raceboard classes had another full day ashore but the Aloha junior and youth class raced for the best part of 25 minutes before it was judged to be too light. With stronger winds forecast for Thursday, Friday and Saturday and the promise of at least enough wind to get racing under way finally on Wednesday, most of the 198 competitors from 14 countries are still happy to wait for the wind.
