Inaugural Worlds Sat On Saturday

Topcat K1 World Championship 2005

Lake Garda, Italy

The inaugural Topcat K1 World Championship begins on Saturday 17 September on Lake Garda, Italy. 60 K1-catamarans are lining up in northern Italy to dispute the Championship title

The windy Lake Garda with its 'magic triangle' Riva - Torbole - Arco is considered one of Europe's most exciting sailing districts and host sailing club Circolo Vela Arco should prove a perfect location for the Topcats.

Speaking of the inaugural World Championship for the class Topcat Class Association President Andreas SCHWERLA commented, 'We are proud and very happy, we will do everything to make the first Topcat World Championships an unforgettable event for all competitors and their relatives.'

A lengthy day on Lake Constance marked the start of Match Race Germany and the opening round of the 2013 Alpari World Match Racing Tour. With the wind off Langenargen just strong enough to sail but rarely getting above 10 knots, the organisers ripped through ten flights of the qualifying round, bringing all of the 12 international teams up to five races sailed.
