Laser Radial European Championship

Lake Neusiedl was, as the week before, without wind, although the weather forecast predicted up to 7 bft today.
Finally, after lunchtime, a south-easterly wind got up and 91 Laser Radial sailors went out for the first 2 races of the Championship. Both fleets had several recalls without black flag at 1-2 bft.

The first starting group in the first race was leaded by the Croatian sailor Tonci Stipanovic who also won with a safe distance. During the start of the second fleet, the wind shifted 40° to the left and the sailors could get right up to the first mark. Only an Austrian sailor, Florian Heitzenberger, and two French sailors, had the right feeling and leaded the fleet to the finish.

After a quick change of the marks the second race was started in nice conditions with constant winds of up to 3 bft. The winners of the two fleets in this race were Dario Kliba CRO and Eduardo Van Vianen NED.

The Jury was very active today. First sailor to be judged was our European President Heini Wellmann (SUI). Alessandro Ciocchi (ITA) was the poor guy of the day, as he was judged twice.

For tomorrow similar conditions are predicted.
