In the best interests of everyone concerned, the International RS:X Class Association have posted the revised Notice of Race for the 2008 RS:X Youth World Championship at http://www.rsxclass.com/document/
"The Championships will now take place between 10-19 January 2009 on condition that competitors from 10 countries and three continents have registered by 24 December 2008. Age restrictions remain the same as they were for the event as originally scheduled.
"Thanks to Neil Pryde Windsurfing, charter equipment remains on site so those with confirmed reservations still do not have to bring their gear.
"We are aware that this decision will not please everyone. For those who wished the event to be postponed until later in the New Year, the class plans to stage the 2009 Open Youth European Championships in April. The 2009 RS:X Youth World Championship will be staged from 25 July-1 August in Turkey (subject to contract).
"In the discussions with MNAs and coaches surrounding the re-scheduling of the 2008 RS:X Youth World Championship, it has become apparent that there is a demand for more youth regattas internationally. We will therefore be making a submission to the 2009 RS:X Annual General Meeting to make the staging of annual Open Youth European Championships an official class policy.
"In the meantime, we would like to take this opportunity to encourage regatta organizers everywhere to get behind RS:X Youth Windsurf racing and include a division for RS:X Youth boys and girls in their regattas as Sail Melbourne have just done.
"News on the re-scheduling of the 2008 RS:X Asian Championships will be published as soon as possible"
