Basilica J/24 World Championship 2005
Weymouth, Great Britain

The Basilica J/24 World Championship got underway in Weymouth, Great Britain yesterday with American Max SKELLY taking the opening bullet.
It was a frustrating morning in Weymouth with three recalls. The wind dropped completely for a while and it looked unlikely they competitors would get any opportunities for racing at all. However around 1400 hours local time the first race of the Championship began.

SKELLEY helming Murder Picture made the early running taking the first win of the Championship and therefore the overnight lead. Japan's Tomomi HATAKEYAMA on Gekko came in second ahead of another American, Peter BREAM on Team Tarheel in third.
