Rolex to Sponsor US Big Boat Series
New York

Furthering its commitment to support world-class yachting events, Rolex Watch U.S.A. today announced its sponsorship of the 2002 St. Francis Perpetual Trophy Regatta - Big Boat Series.
After a hiatus last year due to the events of September 11, the annual regatta - now to be known as the Big Boat Series presented by Rolex - is scheduled for September 12-15, in San Francisco, Calif. In its 38th year, the regatta will be highlighted by Gary Jobson on ESPN's "Best of the West," scheduled for broadcast in the Fall.

"St. Francis Yacht Club is very excited about our partnership with Rolex for this year's Big Boat Series," said Charles Hart, commodore of the St. Francis Yacht Club. "San Francisco Bay's reputation for challenging racing has always drawn many world-class sailors to our waters. We are confident that with the addition of Rolex as a presenting sponsor, our event will provide as much entertainment for the competitor off the water as on the water."

Since its earliest support of the America's Cup in 1958, Rolex Watch U.S.A. consistently has worked to recognize and encourage excellence in every important arena of competitive sailing. "Among the world's celebrated yachting events, the Big Boat Series stands out as a well-run event that offers competitive conditions on one of the most picturesque racecourses," said Walter Fischer, president and CEO of Rolex Watch, U.S.A.

The Big Boat Series presented by Rolex joins other prestigious Rolex-sponsored events including the Rolex Sydney-Hobart, Rolex Fastnet Race, International Rolex Regatta, Rolex IMS World Championship, New York Yacht Club's Rolex Transatlantic Race and Race Week at Newport presented by Rolex, Giralgia Rolex Cup and Rolex Commodores Cup.
