ACI HT Cronet Cup

The ideal weather conditions with the wind up to 13 knots enabled the competitors to finish the last three flights from the second round robin.
Peter Holmberg firmly holds the leading position and has 13 wins and 5 defeats until now. Entering the semi-finals brings him closer to the victory in the Swedish Match Tour. The second is Frenchman Philippe Presti who is new to this regatta. He was successful 11 times. Magnus Holmberg is in the third place with 11 wins, Frenchman Bertrand Pace is fourth with 10 successful battles. Jes Gram Hansen and Andy Beadsworth have the same score but Pace has a better outcome in duels against them. Since J G Hansen did not enter the semi-finals, Magnus Holmberg's second place in SMT is secured.

Home skipper Tomislav Bašić left the racing course in the seventh place and 8 races won, Chris Law and his Croatian crew are in the eight place. His chatty crew won 7 times. As soon as he finished the competition, Cris went commentating the races from the stands. Bjorn Hansen finished the regatta with 5 and Paolo Cian with 4 races won.

Semi-finals: Mini - America's Cup!

The semi-finals started soon after 4 p.m. Peter Holmberg choose Bertrand Pace as his opponent so Magnus Holmberg crossed sails with Philippe Presti. Pace and Presti were more successful today and won two races. Depending on the weather conditions, the Race Committee could announce the semi-final results of today to be the ultimate ones and proclaim the final races.

During the second flight of the semi-finals, Pace was sailing neck to neck with Peter Holmberg. After a while, Holmberg was in the lead. When everyone thought that the race was decided, the wind dropped enabling Pace to win. Holmberg went to the right side of the racing course which seemed to be the better choice before the wind became weaker.

Chris Law, who is also renowned sailing commentator for TV New Zealand, kindly agreed to commentate semi-final races from the stands in the Park Sustipan. Apart from commentating as an expert, his witty remarks contributed to already excellent atmosphere of the event. Chris named the semi-final races a "mini - America's Cup" as all four competitors are going to meet during the most prestigious regatta.
